GRRM didn't quit writing, he quit publishing. I think the GoT ending was HIS ending, and people hated it so much that he realized he needed to pretend like he was working on a better, "true" ending so he could save some face.
Will he ever actually release the final books? No idea, and I really don't know if he has any reason to, especially if I'm right about the Game of Thrones ending being his real ending. The guy's old and he's already made plenty of money.
@shuff_bomb Story goes, he said he hit a writers block. He realised he killed a character he actually needes to stay alive.
@shuff_bomb I agree it was his ending. But, if everyone knows the big ending surprise where is the motivation to craft the books?
@shuff_bomb I don't believe this for a single moment. Did you read the books?
@shuff_bomb No. He simply fails to finish something.
@shuff_bomb The actual ending when you bullet points it. *they defeat the dead at winterfell *Dany becomes the mad queen *Jon kills her and becomes the king beyond what left of the wall *bran becomes the tree king All solid stuff grrm has been writing towards but dnd didn't
@shuff_bomb @SuperNerdMike Maybe? He might have just been under pressure to write an ending for whatever reason, but we can't know without being psychic.
