Every day I go to class and it’s a literature class and I have to hear people say things like “I don’t know why we had to read The Dead in my other class. It’s really boring” and I’m not allowed to go sicko mode
They’ll say things like “why do we have to read literature written before this century” and I have to pretend that’s an agreeable statement for an English major to make
@shreyabasu003 The Joyce story? They think it's boring?
@shreyabasu003 literature classes are great until the students in them open their mouths
@shreyabasu003 That's unfortunate, such a good story! Like Lily the caretaker's daughter I was literally swept off my feet by the prose in that one.
@shreyabasu003 Made my high schoolers read all of Dubliners. Even they’re better than this lol. Sometimes I think I want to teach at a college level but hearing stuff like this makes it sound insufferable… At least high schoolers still have that wonderful curiosity.
@shreyabasu003 Hahaha I’m going sicko in my bed rn wtf that’s such a classic
@shreyabasu003 Do you work out? This should seriously be your response
@shreyabasu003 "the hunger games is just as important and artistically valuable as ulysses" made me drop a class
@shreyabasu003 this is the only reason i'm not a famous novelist actually
