"The Memphis Police Department is introducing a unit that will arrest unaccompanied minors that sell food, play loud music, are inappropriately dressed or dancing in the street.” This is a recipe for more incarcerations and police killings of Black teens. commercialappeal.com/story/news/202…
@shannonrwatts MPD needs to worry less about minors dancing in the street,and more about dirty cops committing gang murder of innocent citizens in the street.
@shannonrwatts So there are no real crime issues in Memphis? No robberies, no violent crime, no dirty cops running drugs or raping random folks? @doj time to go your job & step in to stop the madness.
@shannonrwatts @UclaBruin1998 So….morality police. Like Iran.
@shannonrwatts And exactly who determines what "inappropriately dressed" means?
Maybe they should try that in Philly. This place is outta control. Perhaps they are trying to avoid what is happening here. Now they can't turn it around. Don't take my word for it - google what has been happening in Philly in that last few years. A mass shooting at least weekly - crime is out of control.
@shannonrwatts This is the Police-Level version of what happened last week in the @TNHouseReps
@shannonrwatts @Ronilj261 Only other governments I can think of that arrest kids for dancing or “dressing inappropriately” are in places like Iran, Afghanistan & Saudi Arabia.
@shannonrwatts Why do you think only black kids are commiting crimes?
@shannonrwatts And the Don't Tread on Me flag waving "muh freedoms!" crowd just nods and says "mmhhmm yup sounds good" because they 100% know this isn't going to affect them. They can still carry their ARs in the street while a kid get a hassled for drooping pants.
@shannonrwatts This doesn't sound constitutional. Playing music? Dancing in the streets? And what constitutes "inappropriate clothing"?
