Taking my 2.5 year old daughter on a morning hike in the cold and she wants me to pick her up cause it’s “hard” and I’m trying to explain it’s good to do hard things, and realizing I’ve become Calvin’s dad.
@shakoistsLog I end up wishing I had brought the backpack with me more often than not because of the same experience. But it's also about the only time she's interested in me picking her up, which I love.
@shakoistsLog Is.. is this common? Hiking that young, I mean. It’s making me feel I had a coddled childhood.
@shakoistsLog Nah just carry her without question when she asks. She naturally wants to do things. And she will when she knows she has an out when it gets too hard. And she'll go much further than you think it's possible on the 3rd+ times you do the same walk.
@shakoistsLog part of it is this phase where they want to be coddled and babied in between bouts of extreme independence
@shakoistsLog Calvin's dad is literally me
