I'm at the pediatrician office for a well child visit with my daughter. Appointment was 9:20. Vitals taken and paperwork filled out, but still waiting to see a doctor. Reason #30584 of why healthcare in the US sucks. Why can every other sector keep appts, but physicians can't?
@sgremminger How would you feel if there was a serious diagnosis with your daughter but your pediatrician told you that they’ll have to talk to you about that next time since they have to be on time for their next appointment?
@MrFPastPuff So everyone else in the world can plan for and manage uncertainty, but physician's offices can't?
@sgremminger @MrFPastPuff “We don’t want to wait.” “The doctor needs to spend more time with us.” Pick one.
@sgremminger @MrFPastPuff Because they arent going to leave time slots open in the hopes that overages and emergencies will fill up the space. They are seeing patients who need to be seen as soon as possible, and if filling the schedule completely means delays, that's how it is.
@sgremminger @MrFPastPuff When you’re deep in a hole… don’t keep digging.
I had a dryer repair guy cancel on me by texting me on Sunday and telling me he was going to be viewing the eclipse and couldn't make it. My wife, a pediatrician, was told by the business office at her hospital that she HAD to see patients during the eclipse because schools would be out and they wanted the revenue. Every one of her patient families cancelled at the last minute. A health policy guy who doesn't understand that doctors don't schedule their own visits, "business models" do. That non medical administrators determine the number of minutes for a visit with no concern for the human factor. This "health policy guy" should Google the term RVU and then delete this completely brain dead tweet. Yeah, the patient before you had a cancer diagnosis and was being referred to a tertiary specialist, but we just gave them a pamphlet so we wouldn't be late for your well check. Douchebag.
@sgremminger @MrFPastPuff because we cant ask the price of the service at the visit ,,,it is illegal ,,,you need to deal with insurance ,,that is the major problem ,,,,let the customer deal with the insurance and most problem will be sav e
@sgremminger @MrFPastPuff Apparently, you are keenly unaware of the chaos in supply chain that is on going. Get out.
@sgremminger @MrFPastPuff Everyone else manages uncertainty? Have you ever flown on an airline, scheduled a plumber, scheduled internet service, used a mechanic, rented a car, or done literally anything else in society? We all wait, all the time, every day.
@sgremminger @MrFPastPuff Everyone else charges what ever they want to plan for such. Physicians don’t get paid what they want.
@sgremminger @MrFPastPuff I’d encourage you to shadow physicians and see the kinds of things they deal with daily that you might not be aware of as a parent or patient.
