Would someone be able to identify this? It’s a signage from Banská Bystrica, Slovakia, former Czechoslovakia, former Austro-Hungary. The signage is from 1931 but the type seems older, like from before 1900. It’s similar to 1895 Regina Kursiv, but I couldn’t find a match. 🙏

I’m helping a client to reconstruct this late 19th century inscription and the client thinks there was a curvy tapering of the diagonal as well as some kind of calligraphic swash in the Z. Has anybody ever seen anything like that in a didone? I wasn’t able to find any reference.

@JonathanHoefler @setuptype Actually it's the other way around – type designers tend to be quite ideologically inbred. A good litmus test is this Cyrillic Ж that I've concocted: virtually all type designers think it's unusable, while most graphic designers (you know, our users) think it has cool potential.
