"As someone who had his whole season drop all at once at the same time… it’s the dumbest sh-- ever... There’s literally no upside... Imagine if the whole season of X-MEN 97 was out!" - BenDavid Grabinski, creator of Netflix's Scott Pilgrim Takes Off. 📺 bit.ly/3VW9X51
I have a theory. Jonathan Nolan’s previous project Westworld Season 1 followed the weekly release. This allowed the millions of viewers plenty of time to dissect the potential story lines of the Identity of the Man in Black and the maze etc… before the season finale was screened. So by the time the final episode was released, most of it was already spoiled online by redditors and YouTubers. This made the producers trying to one up the viewers and we know how season 2 fared. By dropping all episodes once , you cut out the redditors and YouTubers analyzing and predicting how the series would unfold. This way, when season 2 is being built, they won’t have to make the same mistakes as Westworld season 2.
There is no negatives to dropping a show all at once. 90% of people dont have time to binge 9 hours in one day. People will watch when they can and look forward to season 2. Dropping episodically and even splitting a season in half to be revealed 6 months later is what these streaming services want so you keep your subscription longer 🤷🏻♂️
@screenrant Maybe I’m just impatient when it comes to entertainment, but I really enjoy the Binge model. If I am enjoying the show, I want to be able to watch it all at once. That’s another reason streaming became so popular because it’s so different than cable tv in every way!
@screenrant I rather have all the eps drop and let me watch it at my own pace then wait week after week for eps to release. Not everyone binges but it’s nice to have the option esp when the show is THAT good
@screenrant I understand why it’s great for some things, but it’s not great for the consumer imo. Release it all and we will watch it.
@screenrant Wandavision was a multi-level experience. A weekly release, then a week of speculations and discussion and hunts for clues
@screenrant It’s only bad because Netflix and the other companies still judge them like a weekly release when it’s dropped all at once.
@screenrant Wasn't this Netflix's whole thing? I mean their main selling point was having the whole seasons released at once.
