In an era where the gig economy reigns and job security feels like a relic of the past, the concept of Universal Basic Income isn't just attractive; it's essential. Think about it: a society where financial stability isn't an elusive dream but a guaranteed starting point for all.

@scottsantens Serious question Everyone gets X number of dollars... some earn more but X is the min any human has/gets Did we eliminate poverty? Or did we just raise the 'poverty line'?
@scottsantens Paying everyone $1,400 a month of free money would cost more than the US currently takes in on income taxes. $5.5 Trillion per year. And that is not counting immense overhead costs for distribution.
@scottsantens The business community that champions flexible work arrangements should be one of the biggest supporters of Universal Basic Income - it helps to keep flexible employment sustainable. I'm not a big fan of gig employment but with UBI it becomes much more attractive and fair.
@scottsantens I have been thinking about it. You still seem focused on the micro, whereas I dwell in the macro. Sure people would be happier with free money, but would all of society’s work still get performed??
@scottsantens I just read an article about how Illinois plans to start a UBI program on a large scale in a few years for college students, poor parents & illegal immigrants. We need to see how that will work. Fear it could become an illegal immigrant magnet.
@scottsantens The problem with UBIs perception isn't the benefit. It's working against the argument of inflation. After the stimulus checks being falsely tied to inflation people make the connection to UBI.
@scottsantens We need clean air and water and sunlight and food to live. We need health care and electricity. We need shelter. We need education...AND to ensure we can get those things we need money. Oh! We also need beauty and kindness and love.
