Pax Belator report: Service dog day 35 (SD+35) Mission: Learn Moms techniques for observing accessible options in public transport, hotels, and general public spaces. Challenges: Unplanned frequent stops Observations: Mom likes to take A LOT of photos - often of me to share with this community. Objective: Assist with mission to make world universally accessible Status: On point! Personal note: my newest mission providing assistance traveling is exciting. The @HiltonHotels at Chicago O’Hare Airport was exceptional. They helped Mom, were friendly and informative as to where my relief area was. They were well informed that I was on a mission and not to be distracted. They were directly attached to the airport - walking inside to get to the terminal so we snoozled in. Some accessibility upgrades could be considered, the hotel is a bit older but very clean, comfortable, and welcoming. There was zero noise in the room we had overlooking the runway. Wheelchair accessible entrance, hallways, restrooms and public areas. Lowered controls in elevators Written evacuation procedure for guests with disabilities Staff training on evacuating guests with disabilities Procedure to flag guests with disabilities in computer and generate printouts Orientation for guests with vision loss 28 wheelchair adapted rooms, 9 rooms with roll-in showers For guests with allergy related sensitivities, there are "environmentally-friendly rooms" with hardwood floors, all cotton linens, bath amenities for sensitive skin, and in-room air purifying system. Onsite restaurant and room service. Would recommend!
@sampson_dog I’m scent sensitive due to severe chronic migraines. I’ll have to check out the rooms you mention. It’s awful to walk into a room and get an instant migraine due to the use of scented materials. Thanks for sharing!!
@sampson_dog Wow, what an impressive hotel. Nice to see that someone gets it. It may be one hotel, but tomorrow it could be 1, then 100, etc.
@sampson_dog The Hilton sounds like a very nice hotel. Just because it’s older doesn’t mean that it can’t be comfortable. Glad to hear you enjoyed your visit.
@sampson_dog Well done, Pax! How's Sammie doing staying at home?
@sampson_dog Amazing report. You are helping so many people who doesn’t have a voice. Thanks 😊. Have a pleasant day. Sending hugs 🤗 and Happy Paws 🐾🇨🇦🦴
