All Tropical Storm Isaias-related prohibitions on swimming at St. Johns County beaches, including the Fort Matanzas National Monument beaches, will be lifted at dawn on Tuesday, August 4. Beach visitors are asked to exercise caution when swimming.
St. Johns County’s Public Works, Utility, and other departments are monitoring the storm and are prepared to initiate recovery efforts, as necessary, once the storm passes.
St. Johns County is now projected to experience one to two feet of storm surge and one to four inches of rain on Monday.
The Emergency Operations Center will remain open overnight on Sunday and throughout Monday for emergency response as necessary.
In addition, the Emergency Operations Center Hotline, 904.824.5550, will remain available to the public through midnight on Sunday and will resume operations at 6 a.m. on Monday.
Tropical Storm Isaias has increased slightly in intensity, but has shifted east and has reduced St. Johns County’s vulnerability to tropical storm force winds. In addition, the National Weather Service has indicated a reduced threat of flooding and storm surge in our area.

All garbage, yard debris, and recycling collections will remain on schedule and all County operations will be open for standard business hours. The Emergency Operations Center will remain open overnight on Sunday and throughout Monday for emergency response as necessary.
The County remains under a Tropical Storm Warning for coastal St. Johns and a Coastal Flood Advisory with the potential for storm surge, high winds, and coastal flooding being the current primary concerns.
SJC Admin and Emergency Management participated in briefings with the National Hurricane Center & the Florida Department of Emergency Management on Sunday that indicated TS Isaias became more disorganized overnight and therefore, the threat level to SJC has been downgraded.
The National Weather Service downgraded Isaias to a tropical storm on Saturday, Aug 1; however, its is projected to restrengthen overnight as a hurricane again on Sunday. SJC will release updates as new info is made available at sjcfl.us/HurricaneIsaias.
In preparation for Tropical Storm Isaias, all St. Johns County sand bag operations will close at 12 p.m. on Sunday, August 2. A maximum allocation of 20 bags per person will remain available at the following locations while operations continue.
The SJC Ocean & Fishing Pier remains closed to the public pending a structural assessment for potential damage caused by Hurricane Dorian. Once deemed safe, it will reopen and the public will be notified at sjcfl.us.

North and South bound lanes of Coastal Highway are closed at this time due to the roadway flooding. FDOT technicians are on scene assessing the situation.
