This is why I still play 5E. There is just so much cool 3rd party product floating around.
@roguecaliber I think 5E is fine, it’s streamlined & easy to play. I don’t really care about the political arguments on Twitter, doesn’t affect the game at my table 😉
@roguecaliber forge of foes? I missed that one. You digging it? Getting a lot of use? I love monster books but to be blunt, I hardly get any use out of them because I don't run/play enough. They're great visual references and inspiration though.
@roguecaliber Who are your top 3 favorite 3rd party publishers for 5e? Mine: @KoboldPress @LoreSmyth @helloMCDM
@roguecaliber Couldn’t agree with you more Ben! Although, I’d really love to play OSR. I’m a child of the OSR age but a little late to the party for TTRRGs, I’m making up for what I missed nowadays. Had I known folks into D&D, would have made childhood 💯better - I love fantasy!
@roguecaliber That's why I keep telling people not to discount 5E. Sure WotC keeps doing weird things but there's a huge amount of 3rd Party content on DMs Guild, Drive Thru and other sites there is always something you can do with the system.
@roguecaliber Isn’t that circular though? Third parties mostly make 5E because it’s the most played system. Even if they make content for other systems, the bread and butter is probably their 5E content. I think the fact that it’s the “mainstream” /corporate system will keep it on top.
