Customer records are not just names and phone numbers. For a business with repeat customers, they should help you remember: - who bought - what they bought - when they bought - who may need a reminder - who is likely to reorder A weak customer record quietly costs repeat sales
@juiceboy_of_abj Advice like this is too generic; you have to deconstruct it and adapt it to your own context. In your case, "build in public" may mean just people within your neighbourhood or state.

If only one person understands what is happening in the business, the business does not have a system. It has a dependency. Orders, stock, customers, prices, and follow-up should not live in one person’s head. That is one of the problems ManagedCo is being built to solve.
Before you ask what backend stack to use, ask who is ready to pay. Laravel can fail. React can fail. Vue can fail. A mobile app can fail. Not because the tech is bad. But because: - the buyer is wrong - the pain is weak - the pricing is guessed - the promise is unclear - the product is overbuilt - there is no acquisition plan The right order: Buyer clarity first. Product strategy second. Technology third. Build after the business case is clearer.
A Laravel dashboard was loading in under 1 second locally but taking 23+ seconds in production. My first suspect was Redis. Then I tested a simple DB query. "select 1" was taking ~448ms. The issue wasn’t the query. The app was in EU West. Postgres and Redis were in US West. Every dashboard request was crossing regions before Laravel could return a response. After moving services closer: DB: 448ms → 7.28ms Cache: 299ms → 3.58ms Lesson: Before optimizing code, check your infrastructure topology. Sometimes the bottleneck is geography.
