Ofer, Agreed. In academia, the Tanakh is flattened as “ancient near eastern literature,” and read along with “parallels” from Mesopotamia, Egypt, Ugarit, etc… The Bible has been completely dissected and classified as to its supposed origin as a patchwork of various documents, etc., with the idea of its narrative of history as fabricated. But the Koran… with very very few exceptions, no such “critical” textual or historical deconstruction has any broad traction within academia. Why? Because of fear. The ivory towers can tear away and pick at Jewish and Christian sacred texts because they know no one will try to stop them. But use the same critical “tools” on Islam? No way! They won’t go there, out of fear of offending Muslims.
