@lazydays1970 @JoshBathtub I understand that frustration. I support the Portland Timbers (as well as the Thorns in NWSL). But I do live 100 miles south of Portland in Eugene. We are soon getting our own USL team (2nd tier), and I’m excited about that too. I will be able to walk to their games.

@lazydays1970 @JoshBathtub Well it sounds like the teams in Tampa allow you the opportunity to attend live soccer matches. Even if they aren’t likely to become MLS teams, isn’t it still worth attending their matches? That’s all I’m saying. We should allow ourselves the opportunity to enjoy live soccer.

@lazydays1970 @JoshBathtub Might I prefer it if MLS were structured more like European leagues (pro/rel, single table, no playoffs)? Absolutely. But here’s the thing, I can attend an MLS match (Portland Timbers) and enjoy a live soccer match and a vibrant supporters culture. I can’t do this with EPL/UCL

@BFNoles @NoMad_Peets @TheDeuce Ok, I’ll address it. The offside line in hockey is static. In soccer it is dynamic. It is, in large part, determined by where the defenders are. Under your suggestion, defenders would have to drop deeper to keep attackers completely in front of them.

@lazydays1970 @JoshBathtub You know what else are closed circles with zero stakes for losing (in fact even rewards given there are drafts) the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL and just about every other North American sports league. Yet no one ever cites that as a reason for not watching them.
