Sports Media: It is not your responsibility to break injury news. Why the need to report someone's personal information? You are not a better journalist by being first. The injury or illness did not happen to you. It is not your story. It is not your truth 1/
You have not earned the right to tell their story. If the athlete wants to share their story, allow them to tell the story on their own terms. Yes, that will require you to wait and be patient. The athlete has the information, the timeline, the recovery, and knowledge 2/5
@rob3atc I don’t know HIPAA rules, bit sometimes I feel like they’re violated by media.
@rob3atc @TheDamefan Louder for some of the folks in the back! Grimy that it was misleading and published with the intent to stir some conversations.. Give me a break.
@rob3atc @KySportsRadio something to consider next time y’all talk about injuries on the radio.
@rob3atc The athletes operate under contracts to a team or organization. The reporters cover the teams. The injuries directly affect the performance of the athletes and, therefore, the teams. If you are a professional or widely known athlete, your injury status is a news topic.
