Making AI art is like asking a chef to repeatedly make you different foods. Then when you finally get something you're happy with, acting like you made it because you had to ask a bunch of different ways. How is that comparable to actually cooking? You're a glorified customer.
@JLHGameArt There's so much judgement lately it's so hard to work with. So many jobs want experience shipping a AAA game, but people also resent so many AAA companies...seems impossible to please everyone, I still haven't broken into the industry yet but I want to makes me sad to see this..
@BrittanyBronso1 I definitely feel both sides. I get it's helpful for employers, but jobs have been around for centuries without needing this. And at least in my industry people already have portfolios to show their work. If you want to do a quick test go for it but not days/weeks of their life
Friendly reminder on how to be constructive when giving NEGATIVE feedback in #gamedev and #gameaudio: be sober, clear, and as specific as you can about what you don’t like and what you want differently. A Threat 1/6
@Squeegee3D @JLHGameArt Me too! That's been my hardest struggle trying to focus and get motivated. The industry still seems a little scary sometimes even though everyone I've met so far are so kind, I worry about my skills and I know the best way to improve is to try, but it's a challenge to get going
I recently decided to revist my modular kit for a uni project and add the things I couldn't add at the time due to hardware restrictions and Covid lockdowns restricting my university computer access. Take a look!

@5439Elliott@BloodScythe4 That's a really good point, even on one of our "bigger projects" team of 8, those of us on the implementation and art side of the project barely understood what was going on with the mechanics 😅
@BloodScythe4@5439Elliott Also true! I remember one of my first game jams, my team and I were the only ones testing our game, it was all of our first game jam too but we knew the controls and the tricks so much better since..we made them...but we ended up with a needlessly difficult games because of it
Yesterday, I got to watch 5 amazing companies pitch their games live at GDC and it was an amazing thing to see, and I am glad I got to learn from real pitches!
Congrats to all of the participants! @plankbuilders@bearandbroom@StudioTandemi@waterflame@thrivehltc
@IronPineapple_ Literally worst mistake ever, it was me and my 2 mates first game jams and we were still learning about games dev at the time. None of us wanted to make the easy "boring" level, which ended up with an impossibly challenging platformer that should not have been that hard 😅
@_DetectiveJones I've been looking at some from Flipped Normals but I haven't actually gotten around to trying any. But it's popped up on my feed a ton lately from others in the industry. flippednormals.com
@henningsanden Maybe having a log of shortcuts to look at that shows every shortcut you could ever use so it's a bit more intuitive to quickly grasp the software's controls. Can be a bit tedious to mouse over buttons to figure out shortcuts or have to search it.
@luketylermp3 @pasipitkanen I was just reading a complaint from some musicians as well that the TikTok music trends are ruining music since so many people want to hear quick attention grabbing beats but are starting to care less about the intention, experimentation, or meaning in the songs which is sad :/
@pasipitkanen Whether or not people play with audio on anyways doesn't give a company the okay to just not do any audio? Audio can often make or break a game, seems wild they'd just say nah not today. Plus there's some people who RELY on audio feedback to get a better idea of what's happening
