President Bola Tinubu is to be commended for attending the funeral of the soldiers slain at Okuama, and for awarding their children full scholarships, as well as presenting houses to their survivors. Every Nigerian should commend this patriotic and respectful gesture. Nobody could deserve it more. Our Armed Forces are the guarantors of the Nigerian state and our last defence against the forces of disunity and impunity. I hope we can put aside our political differences and stand together as one in honour of our fallen heroes. Perhaps the Chief of Defence Staff could also posthumously award the departed soldiers medals for bravery and courage under fire. What President Tinubu did is all the more praiseworthy when you consider that General Buhari NEVER once attended the funerals of slain heroes, including his own Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen Ibrahim Attahiru, who died in a plane crash whilst on active duty and whose funeral took place less than fifty miles from Aso Rock. Neither did Buhari attend the funerals of the soldiers of the 157 Task Force Battalion in Metele. But when his own son, Yusuf, was injured in a motorbike accident, he was at the hospital in less than an hour. Not only did Buhari not attend, he did not even delegate the function to his deputy, Yemi Osinbajo. And he did not do anything for their wives and children. Rather, one of the Metele widows complained of being evicted from the barracks. Yet, Buhari was an ex-military man. General Obasanjo was also a military man. But he did not behave like this. He attended to the military much better than Buhari. Even President Yar'adua, a civilian, treated the military much better than Buhari. We pray that Nigeria never has another completely useless President like General Buhari. #TableShaker
@renoomokri Nigeria must be great under this administration
Summary: President Tinubu's commendable actions at the funeraI of soldiers in Okuama include awarding scholarships and houses to survivors. Contrastingly, Buhari, as former military man, neglected faIIen heroes' funeraIs, highlighting Tinubu's exemplary patriotism amid political differences.
