We have a complicated architectural problem we're trying to solve: We get on a call today: -Architect -Myself -Right-hand-man -Newest Junior Hire We talk and talk, and the junior guy's silent. Half hour in, he chimes in. And solves the problem!
@realEstateTrent I’m sure I’m preaching to the choir - definitely give him the praise to reinforce his confidence in belonging in that meeting. I bet he was quiet because everyone around is more experienced, leading to intimidation (what if I’m wrong? Will everyone think my idea is stupid?)
@realEstateTrent Goes to show you - listen much, speak little works!
@realEstateTrent Two ears one mouth approach really works...
@realEstateTrent Good on you for giving the credit where it's deserved 👍
@realEstateTrent This isn't a case of speak little listen more, this is a case of a man who should know the place inside and out giving the correct answer
@realEstateTrent That’s very much my style. Listen intently, figure out what people know, analyze, speak last. I can often seem annoying with lack of interaction until I’m ready.
@realEstateTrent i keep trying to tell managers… the best ideas can come from the intern… if you only listen!!
