everyone has a crisis from 27-29 about what they haven’t done yet. it comes after the crisis about being 24-26, which comes after the crisis about being 23. there will always be a thing that preempts what you thought “should” happen in your twenties. this time it was covid lol
also if you’re posting like that you probably would have spent most of your time from 23-26 online anyway lmao
@rachelmillman For me and most people I know my twenties was mostly in retrospect spent grinding away at work
@rachelmillman what's interesting imo is how mandated isolation can be used as rationalization for that early adulthood ennui, a way to grapple with the existentialism of adulthood that—pandemic or not—is an unavoidable fate
@rachelmillman Thankfully this feeling one hundred percent definitely goes totally away as I near 40.
@rachelmillman 2008, 2001, 12/31/1999, etc etc etc
@rachelmillman I think for the ones who definitely want kids, it's magnified, as they see this as their last years of not having kids and so they're panicking about any milestones they haven't achieved yet, career & housing-wise especially, that they thought they'd have figured out by now.
