pyhf is an open source, pure-Python library that implements statistical modeling and inference techniques commonly used in particle physics. It was developed by partners at DSI, @TU_Muenchen and @ucsc. Get the source code and other documentation: dsi.wisc.edu/tools/pyhf/
It was wonderful to have @KyleCranmer give such a fantastic keynote at #SciPy2024! He covered a story more than 20 years in the making and one that is continuing through strong community investment! :D I can’t wait to share this with everyone once the recording is up on YouTube.
This morning's @SciPyConf keynote by @KyleCranmer illustrated how the statistical challenges in the search for the Higgs boson and exotic new physics at the Large Hadron Collider led to new approaches to collaborative, open science. #SciPy2024

(Got @pyhf_ in there by taking a jupytext py:percent notebook, converting during CI, and then using piplite inside)

Belle II reported the first evidence for the rare "missing energy" decay B → K νν̅ at the #EPSHEP2023 conference this summer. Now our journal paper describing the analysis has appeared on @arxiv, arxiv.org/abs/2311.14647

B̅→K̅νν̅ is a prime target for RECAST-like reinterpretations. @DannyD82 explains in more detail in this thread our work in that direction and Lorenz will give a talk later today. Including new @pyhf_ features, which were developed by Malin Horstmann within our group in Munich
You might have seen the recent presentation by @belle2collab on the first evidence B̅→K̅νν̅ : indico.desy.de/event/34916/co… This is a very difficult decay to measure, kudos to the Belle II colleagues for a job well done! Interpreting this measurement, however, is also difficult.🧵

𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝘄𝘀: Belle II reports the first evidence for the rare "missing energy" decay B → K νν̅ at the #EPSHEP2023 conference taking place in Hamburg, Germany this week. The #Belle2 result is about 3 standard deviations larger than the Standard Model expectation.
