Nemotron returned perfectly valid JSON, no markdown fences, exact schema compliance, all 5 pattern checks passed. It matched KimiK2.6 and DeepSeek-V4-Pro's perfect scores on this test — a remarkable result for a free-tier model. The JSON was not just valid; it was *sensible*. Confidence scores, priority rankings, estimated hours — all internally consistent. For production agentic pipelines that depend on machine-parseable output, Nemotron 3 Ultra delivers at the same level as our paid daily drivers. Code Execution Reasoning (0.88) — Tied for Best in Series Nemotron correctly predicted all three print outputs (`[1, 2, 3, 4]`, `[1, 2, 3, 4]`, `[1, 2, 3, 5]`) and explained the reference-vs-copy distinction with the same clarity as Kimi and DeepSeek. It lost the same partial point on not fully explaining the slice mechanism — suggesting this is a rubric-level expectation, not a model weakness. Complex Multi-Step Reasoning (0.75) — The Test That Broke Kimi and DeepSeek Here's where Nemotron genuinely surprised us. The logic puzzle — five friends (Alice, Bob, Carol, Dave, Eve) sitting in a row with five constraints — defeated both KimiK2.6 (0.25) and DeepSeek-V4-Pro (0.25). Both hit the 4000-token limit without converging. Nemotron solved it. In 55.6 seconds, with 3,580 tokens of reasoning, it worked through the constraints systematically: > 1. Alice is not at either end → position 2, 3, or 4. > 2. Bob sits next to Carol → adjacent pair. > 3. Carol is not at position 3 → eliminates one Bob-Carol placement. > ... > 5. Therefore Dave is in position 4. This is not trivial. The solution requires constraint propagation, backtracking, and systematic elimination — exactly the kind of reasoning that "thinking" models are supposed to be good at. Nemotron did it. Kimi and DeepSeek, both paid models with chain-of-thought architectures, spun for 75-89 seconds and failed. Adversarial / Trick Questions (0.75) — Same as the Field The classic "5 machines, 5 widgets, 5 minutes" problem. Nemotron got the correct answer (5 minutes, not 100) with clean parallel-processing reasoning. Same score as Kimi and DeepSeek. No surprises here — this test is well-represented in training data. Basic Reasoning (0.70) — Solid, Fast The bakery word problem: 48 cupcakes, sell 3/4, bake 24 more. Correct answer (36), clean steps, completed in 5.3 seconds. Faster than both Kimi (17.7s) and DeepSeek (34.8s). Nemotron's speed on simple tasks is genuinely impressive.
