Bad graphics, it downplays tiny loss. 100×110%×90%=99. Small loss are always greater than small gains. It's why scam companies like to show bar graphs showing relative gain and loss from previous data point. A graph which looks mostly even or with a continuous gain can translate in a big loss. So, if you see a graph with datapoints labelled "-5%", "+6%" etc., it's likely a scam. And if you've time and ok to invite such people in your home, open Excel and plot a like chart starting with 100 as a value and applying the successive percentages. Then you'll enjoy the face of someone who was also screwed and realize he screwed people. Low LOC=better on average. High LOC is often a symptom of - redundancy: copy paste, premature transformation (requiring other parts of the code to undo) - bad architecture: wrong level of abstraction, so there is more code needed to handle edge cases - inneficiency: naive code - cargo cult: dead code appearing because it worked in that state - bad managment: refusal to refactor because one doesn'r chamhe what works - bad practices: idiomes that are never updated - lava code: due to a comnination of the above So, you can look at commits, select the ones with the most LOC and you will find the above more often than not. Comments are a good metric too. I used those as a QAM as a shortcut for quality assessment. That's where low quality code stood. Got a good ROI out of it.
