Years I waited in the dark Trying to prove I was enlightened Secretly hoping for a spark And when it finally came Yet not as I expected Was it not the flickering light But the darkness I protected
Cowardly hellions present As heroes of the light Sell out everyone they know Running from the fight Frightened to offend Terrified to speak Guarding one's own lot From the starved, the poor, the meek
Surrendered to temptation The pull was just too strong Now I must suffer in repentance Never knowing for how long
Satan has his hooks in me Angels fight to set me free And here I wander obliviously Worried about what others see
Games we never played Books we never read Words we never spoke Kept locked inside our head Dreams left unpursued Acts we never tried Love we never gave Tears we never cried Bathed in our regret And eternal remorse Yet as long as we have breath We can change our course
Other peoples lives Far more interesting than mine Waste a day Waste away Scrolling down the line
Pills to stay awake Pills to fall asleep Pills to tolerate The company you keep
Don't think 🧠 Don't say 👄 Don't go 🏃♂️ That way ➡️ Don't argue 🗣️ Don't deny 🤥 Don't you 🫵 Even Try
Standards lowered Not quite so high The least among us Touch the sky For those who leap Beyond the stars To be lost in dreams And prayers And bars
If you want to live forever You better get used to the pain Your body's strong, your mind is clever Heal your spirit lest your troubles remain
Useless knowledge Pointless tasks Petty critiques Meaningless asks Wasting time Spinning plates Watching clocks Pondering fates Going nowhere Weightless space Spouting off Saving face
How do you rank your enemies? From least to first From bad to worst From nasty to rude From vile to crude From sick to perverse From evil to cursed The wicked must sort themselves.
You sell your faith for ether Your morals lay in dust You fail to follow a simple command To swear in God you trust
BOOM BOOM BOOM They're in the next room DOOM DOOM DOOM They'll be here soon Whatchya gonna do When the footsteps come for you?
To all the cliché sayings I have grown immune Waves of noise drown out our call In favor of familiar tune
What we spoke were only lies How we behaved unjust Where we stood was hallowed ground When all we had was trust
So don't get it twisted. Don't get confused. Bring forth your righteous indignation And I will fasten tight your noose.
I set the precedent. I make the laws. I've got people very close to me Who will cover any flaws.
I'm the President! I'm the CEO. I'm the man in charge, And I'll make sure you always know.
Here it comes Another cloud Filtering the light Affecting my mood Distorting my feeling Obscuring my insight Questioning my faith Doubting my sincerity Corrupting all I write
