Recently watched Prêt-à-Porter, Robert Altman's Paris Fashion Week satire/reviled follow-up to Short Cuts. Is it great? Hell no. But it's fun! STRONG Christopher Guest vibes (always looking for this, never finding it), incredible character actors, and plenty of gorgeous bullshit.

@historyiscool__ What are your thoughts on the First vs Second New Deal? The Second is usually thought of as more radical, but more of it survived to this day (Social Security, NLRB); the paper makes the case that it was, unlike the first, almost completely un-corporate influenced.
@historyiscool__ I was reading a paper, "Of Corporatism, Fascism, and the First New Deal," and it argues that the First New Deal was corporatist and people like Hugh Johnson were influenced by Mussolini, while the Second New Deal was firmly statist. Curious on your thoughts.

I'm back in the streets reporting from Portland tonight. What started as day of speeches against the Genocide in Gaza by an occupied half the library has turned into an occupation of a much larger chunk of it.
