How I Got a Remote Job as a Data Engineer (My Story) 👇🏻 Many people have misconceptions about remote jobs! People think that to get a remote job, you have to keep applying for jobs, and one day, by some magic, you'll receive an offer. However, that's not how things work. You need to become capable enough for a company to trust your skills remotely. To achieve that, you have to work on various things: skills, projects, certifications, networking, resumes, etc. Another factor is luck, which also plays a role in this journey. You don't have control over it, but you can increase your chances by working on different aspects. I graduated in 2019, and after my internship, I secured a full-time job at a startup company. This job helped me learn about data engineering, project execution, client communication, and understanding the overall business. I used these skills to do the same thing on a smaller scale - freelancing. I began by creating profiles on Upwork and Fiverr and started applying for jobs. It wasn't easy; it took me 2-3 months of consistent improvement and learning about freelancing to land my first job. After this, doors to new opportunities opened. I began receiving more work and started sharing my learnings on LinkedIn, YouTube, and Twitter. During this process, I received a message on LinkedIn about a remote job from a large company. I accepted the offer. After a few rounds of interviews, I got the job. This journey sounds simple, but I had to work on many different things. It took me around 1-2 years of consistent hard work to get here.
