I saw Helen Vendler lecture on Keats's Ode on a Grecian Urn when I was an undergrad in *cough cough*. It was exhilarating. Have never forgotten it. Rest in Poetry.

Sorry to hear that Helen Vendler has died. I have a vivid sense-memory of reading her book on Shakespeare's sonnets as a student, absolutely startled by the way she'd somehow exploded a text I couldn't get my head round into something rich and magical and completely compelling.
