When a Pregnant woman collapses. 1) Do not Panic! 2) Tap her shoulders and call her name. Check if she's breathing and check if she has a pulse on her neck 3) Tilt her tummy slightly to the left to remove the weight of the baby from the big blood vessels at the back. 4) Start gentle CPR... Your hands just below and in between the breasts. Give her some breaths. Call 911! 5) For Pregnant women, you have only 5 mins max!... so you must be good at the CPR!... call for help immediately!! For doctors(especially Obstetrics doctors) If no response... we do what we call Perimortem Caesarean section... right there and there... All needed by the OBSTETRICS doctor is a knife and cord clamps. No theatre!... Right there!... no checking of baby's heart beat!... The CS is done not primarily to save the baby but the MOTHER... Once the load from the baby is out ...it releases the flow of blood to the other parts of the mothers body... This has saved lots of women. But sadly, some still don't make it. It'll be a shame if by now you can't do CPR... with all the PRs... learn it! Do you know when a pregnant woman collapses and she has no pulse... You have only 4 minutes to do CPR, use defribillator, jump start the heart or 5 minutes from the time of collapse? Now, you know!
@osemagnum Just coming online right now to see this.... Yesterday afternoon I fainted in the market (35 weeks pregnant)... I don't know what happened but I just suddenly saw myself going down.... Quickly found somewhere to seat and that was all I knew... Next thing na water wake me
@osemagnum Thanks for sharing. Must we wait for a case like this before we learn, what do we use our phones for
@osemagnum As a Nigerian living in Nigeria, if this happens in a busy Lagos market with no obstetrician around, what is the next best step to do especially as we have about 5mins max.
@osemagnum This reminds me of when I fainted during labour. Just felt something was off like I was not myself and I wanted to vomite. Woke up to my mum-in-love calling my name and my husband looking at me like he saw a ghost. 20mins later I put to bed.
@osemagnum Thank you for this. I have not thought about the pregnant women's part.
