Today, we're introducing Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5, two configurations of our next major language model. I'd normally highlight the numbers: It's SOTA on nearly all benchmarks. I want to talk about something else, because with Fable 5 out in the world, I think a third era quietly started today. I lead Claude Code & Cowork on the desktop, so I think a lot about how people use AI to get work done. I believe we're about to see a major shift, moving from giving AI tasks to giving it responsibilities.
@thsottiaux I have been experimenting with just letting it run on a northstar prompt and then steering it incrementally. Super interesting
@_philschmid Frontier/SOTA is likely model ~ harness optimization both ways, but I think open source should likely coalesce around a few harnesses and have the models optimize to them, obviously some step improvement outliers would be ideal!
What context is the agent missing is the most important northstar in my opinion. If you build your agent to really hug that concept and do its best to reason over what may be missing and then enable it to acquire it, it gets super cool. I have always asked myself “what don’t I know” first and foremost and this applies really well with agents!
