Survivorship plans for cancer patients at the end of treatment need to be better than “hey you’re done see ya in 3 months!” 😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫
@ohyouresotough Even after her new tumor that popped up in her sternum, her oncologist told her it was scar tissue and massage it with a tennis ball. She died in February.
@ohyouresotough Isn't this where follow up is turned over to Social Service worker?
@ohyouresotough OMG YES!!! It was a long and slow process coming to the realization that my oncologist doesn't care about me anymore and won't again until he has to. 😅 Should be a graduation party or something lol. At least a card saying "go back to your primary care now, we're done here."
@ohyouresotough I was handed a pamphlet that was practically titled " So you just found out that survivorship sucks..." Made me laugh.
@ohyouresotough It doesnt have to be. My hospital had a 'Moving On' group and we met every 3 weeks for 6 sessions. It was so needed by everyone in the group. If your hospital dont do this then check out your nearest Maggie's Centre or use the MacMillan website which is bloody marvelous. x
