Branding is the most important part of game development, above design, above marketing, above everything. It defines your game’s identity, and identity determines who resonates, who stays, and who ignores it. Design supports it. Marketing amplifies it. #RobloxDev
Many developers miss opportunities by misreading outcomes like this. What looks like “brainrot games don’t last long” is often just regression to the mean + selection bias, not a causal rule about the genre. The reality is: most games don’t last, regardless of genre. What’s happening is a misattribution problem. Trend driven spikes create abnormal exposure, then normalize, and that drop gets blamed on the game instead of the cycle. A more accurate model: success = skill (execution quality) + luck (timing within a trend) When luck is high (viral trends), outcomes become extreme, both up and down. After that, they regress. So it’s not that “brainrot games die fast,” it’s that high-variance games are coming down from inflated exposure. The trend is luck. The part you control is execution.
