Marie Kondo gotta be the most unlikely polarising figure of my lifetime, all that lady said was get rid of shit youre not happy with and I swear the media in this country has spent half a decade trying to find new gotchas to throw at her every week, it's beyond bizarre
currently its sneering that Kondo is cleaning less with 3 kids, ok, and the point is? She should be forcing the kids to clean? throwing out the kids? Neglecting them to tidy the basement? fuck is wrong with the people who even write these pieces
@nameshiv The sneering is because she's perceived as a public scold, being taken down a notch. Similar to when Bill Bennett, who earned a measure of fame as author of "The Book of Virtues," turned out to have a casino gambling habit.
@nameshiv As a mom: Marie Kondo’s philosophies have been more or less thrown at moms trying to keep clean houses and drowning in kid stuff. I personally find it a little refreshing that she’s now acknowledging it’s not that easy.
@nameshiv It’s relieving that she’s a normal human being. I’d be more suss if she was cleaning and tidying the same way after three kids than before.
@nameshiv "Ideally, you should never have more than five classified documents in your home."
@nameshiv As a person without kids, I say get rid of the kids if they do not spark joy. 😎
@nameshiv She literally said that being with her kids and their imperfections is giving her great joy right now so I think she’s doing fine. (She still did a lot of tidying teaching when she had two kids—you see her daughters briefly in the show.)
@nameshiv I kinda feel like it also misses the point that downsizing clutter is the kind of thing you do with your own stuff and doing it with things belonging to your kids would be pretty fucked up, especially if they aren't old enough to understand why or do it on their own.
@nameshiv Deadlines gonna deadline and they wanna get paid.
