Another quarterly update to the @Betterment experiment is in! mrmoneymustache.com/betterment-vs-… Summary: ➡️With stock indices near record levels, my balance is up to $360,000 after nine years of diligent automated deposits. ➡️$119k of tax losses harvested and deducted over nine years ➡️Bonds and cash are finally paying some actual returns which may start to help that part of the portfolio (10% for me) in future years. ➡️BUT the more global nature of the Betterment portfolio still hasn't caught up to US-only stocks during this time period. Lots of that is just due to crazy gains in the Nifty Seven US mega companies (Apple, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Tesla, Nvidia, etc) ➡️What will the NEXT decade hold??
@mrmoneymustache @Betterment Would you recommend betterment as a way to “bank” a TLH amount that down the road (maybe even several years) could be used to offset capital gains from selling appreciated funds for a major purchase?
@mrmoneymustache @Betterment I encourage you to update your accounting of the tax-loss harvesting benefit to include the future assumed tax liability.

@mrmoneymustache @Betterment I use Wealthfront and have been very happy with it. The automated tax loss harvesting has saved my butt on taxes from the extra side income I’m making. I think these platforms are great for hands off investing for the avg person
@mrmoneymustache @Betterment I am using @Wealthfront from last 5 years. Got lot of benefits with tax harvesting and low fee
@mrmoneymustache @Betterment Thanks for posting. I am a huge fan and wish you‘d Post more often. No thing like tax harvesting here in germany, it is a shame…
@mrmoneymustache @Betterment I read it but I missed where you said what the time weighted return was. Thanks
@mrmoneymustache @Betterment The next decade will hold #Bitcoin
