My statement below: L.A. Times reporters attacked by Minnesota troopers will settle lawsuit for $1.2 million latimes.com/california/sto…
@mollyhf Molly, I'm so sorry you had to endure this and thankful you prevailed.
@mollyhf @WorkStoppagePod The only deterent is when both massive penalties are awarded ($10.2 rather than $1.2 - and taken directly from the police budget) and individual senior officers are charged along with their violent thug underlings in uniform.
@mollyhf @sirensong89 I would have sued under the 1st, and 14th Amendments and 18 U.S. 242 Deprivation of Rights under the color of law.
@mollyhf That whole thing was outrageous, Molly. I hope at least the physical injuries have healed. Take care.
@mollyhf @pahwa_nitish the amount of money Minneapolis and the state of Minn spend on settlements involving violent cops is a good indicator of the kind of law enforcement Minnesotans desire.
@mollyhf "hope it serves as a deterrent...". Where does this settlement money come from?
@mollyhf In what world will this serve as a deterrent? Who will be deterred? Literally no one will face any consequence. Glad they did it and won but it will not change one single thing.
@mollyhf I am so sorry to learn of what you went through. I’m really that you pursued accountability for those involved.
@mollyhf @MackenzieMays Every time the RW say "lets review the violence at the civil rights protests, I am reminded of the article showing much of it was caused by overzealous police (or outright hostile) and outside instigators.
