I don't talk much about Dominican and Haitian politics because I have no context of living there, but today must be a conflicting day for Black Dominicans. It's hard to celebrate when you think about the dark history behind today's independence day.
celebrating the fact you separated yourselves from the first Black republic is hmmm. Trujillo's anti-Black sentiments still prevails till this day.
@moisturizednerd Puerto Ricans upset they have nothing to celebrate—Not a single day of auto-determination, sovereignty, free will. The only dark history of this glorious day is that after independence Haiti continue to invade the new republic. Each time defeated by outnumbered Dominicans.
