The bizarre but apparently common practice of someone you have never met confidently introducing you to others you have never met (via email) is as unnerving (do I know this person? am I going senile?) as it is baffling — wdyt happens next, other than liberal use of block button?
@mlevchin Definitely a hard one for me. Some of the best startup founders got to me without an intro. There is a kind of cold outreach that works and hundreds that don’t. But I don’t want a blanket ‘ignore’ on all of it.
@mlevchin You have to admire the chutzpah!
@mlevchin “Meet my good friend Max! We have a (parasocial) relationship going back nearly a decade”
@mlevchin This is why I increasingly only intro people to others via text or in person. Reduces the spamish intros by about 99%. :)
@mlevchin The author is attempting to gain clout and favor with the introduction. Ridiculous practice
@mlevchin i get this all the time. i also like it when someone emails you and said you were referred by someone that they do not name. (“one of your associates said you’d be interested in…”)
@mlevchin I'll let you get the guess :) Oh, and this other thingy called PayPal.
