Still think this is one of the most *clarifying* pop songs of the decade. Polyphia is in the Rick Beato/NAMM sphere, Sophia Black is classic C-list A-pop, the cutesy Japanese brings this into J-rock territories. Makes you realize so much about your taste. youtu.be/Mtd24QIBJ5Y?si…
Was reminded of this today when thinking about the differences between Tortoise, American Football, Joan of Arc, Storm and Stress, and Toe. Love thinking about how any given sound from any song always signifies *something*, and how abstract and absurd that relationship can be.
@misterminsoo "what if prog musicians played hyperpop on real instruments" was the best idea, as it turned out.
@misterminsoo My good friend helped make this! @SUYUKl 💞
@misterminsoo i like this song because it feels like the mathy stuff is actually part of the pop-ness of the song, i don't really get that from polyphia's other stuff
@misterminsoo a true sui generis pop moment; i think i got to it via clone hero youtube videos
@misterminsoo This is all true and also I hate this song really viscerally in a way that's hard to describe, like genuine disgust it's quite interesting
@misterminsoo this is the one polyphia song i kinda like but i think its mostly bc its their most digestible with the least showmanship nonsense
