It's strange to see Dogecoin lose the image that made it recognizable around the world. It is now legally the designation of a completely different token. But the creators of that token won the image fairly. They did what the Dogecoin community didn't think to do. They paid a lot for it, and now they are celebrating deservedly. I think I saw somewhere that the IP owners said they don't want to legally charge us for using the image for memes and such (correct me if I'm wrong). However, a decentralized currency like Dogecoin must not have an owner of its image, name or anything else. I think the community needs to find a solution for the new Dogecoin mark.
@RepeatAfterVee How about a legal document signed by @ownthedoge @tridog approving and agreeing that Dogecoin keeps the rights to use its logo forever and without any fees ?
@Fantoumi @ownthedoge @tridog I have to admit that I don't understand why Dogecoin, as a worldwide popular brand, would use an image that belongs to and promotes an eth token.
First, no matter what they have registered or how or where, it is still that token which is using the same photography from which the Dogecoin logo was inspired, not the other way around There are literally thousands of memes made with that image, and the logo we use is a stylized artwork inspired by that photography
I do not want to give this more importance than it has, but: the game being played here is obvious - through this marketing stunt, they seek publicity, and legitimacy, to put their token, NFT, whatever, on the same level as a decentralized, permissionless cryptocurrency with 10 years of history. It is all about money, not about peace and friendship. As a confirmation to this, without second thought, they use a centralizing process to try and somehow claim some kind of power on (in their dreams) a decentralized and permissionless project (and I suppose on thousands of memes unrelated to Dogecoin) without owners, built by volunteers. People should really learn a trade and do honest work instead of always piggy-baking on already established stuff. Or learn to paint, sow the fields, go spelunking.
I think it is also worth remembering that they are also piggybacking (like Dogecoin did originally) on the organic, viral, and thus permissionless, and decentralized spreading of a meme Listen guys: if you need to you can use a photo of my old dog, turn his coat yellow, and make a vector out of it and I will give up all ownership for the next billion years. Just add a cannolo in front of him for good measure
@RepeatAfterVee @Fantoumi @ownthedoge @tridog *Piggybacking kids, I am sorry I am always hungry
@mishaboar @RepeatAfterVee @Fantoumi @ownthedoge @tridog Damn you for getting shadowbanned or falling off my algorithm I’ve missed whatever transpired.
@mishaboar just wondering, would you consider my store and the little crypto keychains i sell counting as piggybacking, they are made to cater to all interested but are themed after specific crypto after all
We have been trying to say this for a very long time. The utilization of the hashtag and saying things like "$Dog is Doge" while trying to shill directly to the Ðogecoin community as helpful in some way. I really think OwnTheDoge should to be Extremely Transparent about what they want going forward. Our image was used on our coin before the meme had anything to do with OwnTheDoge. 😎 Ðogecoin is Generic and $Doge is the protocol 🐾💛 Genius marketing and taking advantage of the countless people's effort and time in creating this environment.
@mishaboar @RepeatAfterVee @Fantoumi @ownthedoge @tridog Yes, no more piggy-backing there’s absolutely no honour in that. It’s quite pathetic to be honest!
