My son and I are spending this year traveling to different parts of the world to study the impact of the Transatlantic Slave Trade. Thus far, we have visited DC, Charleston (SC), Brazil, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Next up is the Caribbean, Africa, and Portugal. 1/
We are calling the experience “A Year in Man Camp” and are excited about the book that we will be writing detailing our experiences. Watching him learn the truth that some would like to forget, others don’t want to teach, and more just don’t know has been eye-opening. 2/
@michaelsorrell What an important project, and it’s incredibly special that you and your son are doing it all together! When you get to the point of writing, our XanEdu team would be honored to publish the book if you’re looking for a publisher. Reach out anytime.
@michaelsorrell Former Charleston resident here. Very neat trip. Just wanted to get this ProPublica article on your radar if it wasn't already: propublica.org/article/how-gr…
@michaelsorrell Wow. Sounds like a great grad level or private course many would like or need to take, and at at a much younger age than college. Like your son (but I don’t know his age). And with u the teacher. There would b a 10 year waiting list
@michaelsorrell ClimbKili.com based in Arusha Tanzania can help with travel suggestions as local hospitality professionals in that area of Africa. We stayed at their hotel, they were our guides on Mount Kilimanjaro and they gave my spouse and I suggestions on visiting Zanzibar.
