listen to her explain the Van Gogh soup protest. she’s got a point, no?
to those of you trying to dunk on Phoebe for being posh: she’s using her privilege to fight for a cause that affects us all. remember: privileged people can *afford* to take risks to advance social causes. good on her for doing so.
@michaelmezz If the aim was to get people arguing over throwing soup it was big success. If it was to get people talking about taking action on climate change, bring people to their group etc. it was a complete failure. The act drowned out the message & alienated a lot of people against them.
@michaelmezz @drknz14 Attempting to destroy others work? That sure doesn’t recommend you much.
@michaelmezz @JustStop_Oil Pheobe Plummer, 21, who threw tomato soup over Van Gogh's Sunflowers "is believed to have attended St Mary’s School Ascot, the £15,000-a-term independent boarding school, before going to Mander Portman Woodward, a private college offering GCSE and A-Level courses. Says it all
@michaelmezz What’s her being ‘queer’ got to do with it? The word is a gay slur.
@michaelmezz I agree with them 100% The time for tweaking around the edges and pretending it's "action" is over. It is now time to act. And if our governments refuse to listen, we must attract the attention of the people to get them to act too.
@michaelmezz I'm torn by this. She has a point but the "we have 3 years to ensure the survival of humanity" is hyperbole and I still don't think this increases the support for climate change action. (Side note: we should reduce demand faster. Reducing some supply has little impact.)
@michaelmezz The first thing the police should have done was make her clean up the soup and wash up the mess.
