While this may be true, I think blowing up universities was a part of something more profound: Destruction of a society in the temporal dimension: Past: archives, heritage sites, ancient monuments, Present: bakeries, markets, water, sewage, power stations, Future: children, schools, youth, universities, teachers, ...
