@mercoglianos @SRuhle Not sure any of his comments are “great”. They explain a lot. Nothing “great” about this tragedy. Use your words better.
@mercoglianos I'm missing the part where he explains how the vessel turned a hard right directly into the support column at the last minute...x.com/nygamecock/sta…

@mercoglianos @realjusthuman Can anyone explain why the ship was allowed to leave port with the known deficiencies? That CISA report claims they knew the lost propulsion as soon as they left port. Why did they continue then?
@mercoglianos The good ChEng from Maersk may also wish to comment on what standard fatigue SOPs are for their ships, and whether a post-midnight sailing with the current under a bridge in a narrow channel without tugs is a Maersk practice? Or have other ships opted to have tugs escort here?
@mercoglianos @lookner “The vessel course cold not be changed”but we all seen it did
@mercoglianos Finally, an experienced expert explains the most likely progression of events. Not terrorism, black swan, or secret dolphin attack. Common events that, under normal operations would have little impact but while navigating a restricted channel results in a devastating event.
@mercoglianos Thanks, invaluable. Where was the ship built?
