The dream of reform for existing leaseholds unravels as Treasury and Downing Street quietly axes peppercorn ground rent w/ @HarryYorke1 thetimes.co.uk/article/d11482…
@melyork @HarryYorke1 There is still a way forward by using market evidence and we have demonstrated this calculator to Govt and still reduces premiums by up to 63% and pays ‘fair value’ to freeholders.
@melyork @HarryYorke1 Obviously the Tories have given up on reelection. #Leasehold in England will be abolished
@melyork @HarryYorke1 Is this a deliberate ploy to demoralise leaseholders? The constant rollercoaster of hope followed by failure to deliver, make it seem like we're stuck in some kind of mental experiment on resilience to adversity.
@melyork @HarryYorke1 Problem is, you've got a super rich PM and a chancellor who thinks £100k pa salary isn't much, so they're so far from reality they cave to pressure from freeholders. If they had relatives stuck in this archaic system there would have already been action to abolish leasehold.
@melyork @NLC_2019 @HarryYorke1 Shambles. Gove is just another Tory charlatan..
@melyork @HarryYorke1 So do we think the 250 cap will happen?
@melyork @HarryYorke1 Peppercorn was never going to happen. £250 cap only option to unfreeze the leasehold market or at least make it less terrible when trying to sell.
