1/I had the privilege of speaking with the Political Science Club at ISU tonight. I was taking questions from the students, when after a few, one student said he had a comment instead. He said as a gay kid in NW Iowa, life has been hard. He then thanked me for standing up for
2/him. I thanked him for having the resolve to stay in the state despite the threats and hostility he often receives. I asked if he was planning on leaving after graduation and he said no, he’s not going anywhere, that he wants to stay and fight.
@melton4iowa This is what real courage looks like.
@melton4iowa As an Iowan raising two gay children I want to personally thank this young man for his interest in politics and his resolve. Iowa deserves more of this.
@melton4iowa I always appreciate 2nd hand stories that compliment the person telling the story. Be sure to do some wrist flexibility exercises next time, buddy, it will help the "efforts" your candidacy offers. 😎
