🔥🔥 Best 6 mins 58 seconds you will spend in X today. Dr @sasmitpatra taught me when I studied in Allahabad, now Prayag. He was one of the most sincere, humble and intelligent professors, always willing to help and listen. This 6 minute 58 second speech by him in Rajya Sabha is a must watch. This is the kind of people representatives India needs. Thank you Dr Patra, for saying what was to be said and reminding the critical roles of legislative, executive and judiciary.
The fact that @sasmitpatra had to say it (the concept of separation of powers and checks and balances by the three branches of the government) explicitly in the parliament tells a lot about the political state of the nation. If there is any legislator who didn’t know this then that legislator doesn’t deserve to be in the parliament. While Sasmit is right about Judiciary, we need to make sure that Executive branch also stays within its bounds and respects other two branches.
@maveinlux @sasmitpatra We need more such awakened members in our parliament 👍
@maveinlux @sasmitpatra 1. I see Judiciary and legislature as checkpoints for each other. Truly judiciary can not make acts for country that power stays with parliament of India only. As Sasmit mentioned constitution is supreme. But how will u check whether act passed by parliament is actually......
@maveinlux @sasmitpatra I, me ,myself. No need of parliament, court or judges. Sab kuch hum thik kar denge.
@maveinlux @sasmitpatra Wow, hope the Parliament reinforces the NJAC and farm reforms by overturning Judicial adventurism
@maveinlux @impuni @sasmitpatra Brilliant! #RohintonNariman needs to listen to this with open ears instead of giving speeches of another kind…
