The Placer County Bar Association put on a great dinner last night and celebrated the recent retirement of two amazing judges, the Hon. Colleen Nichols and the Hon. Eugene Gini. Maurer Law is a proud supporter of the PCBA and happy to be a part of its rich history in this state.
Today is also the only federal holiday to be designated as a National Day of Service encouraging volunteering in our communities. As we honor Dr. King's legacy, we should all consider his words: “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’”
Businesses and homeowners should check to make sure they do not have sprinklers still running or drainage issues (like a dripping rain gutter) that can create icy fall hazards. This is especially important in areas where children and an elderly population is present.
Mental health professionals recommend approach-oriented goals ("I'm going to eat one piece of fruit each day.") instead of avoidance goals ("I'm not going to eat any chocolate this month.") because small accomplishments create positive emotions that elicit more positive actions.
