Do Zoomers know that childless young people can just go out to a restaurant with friends and save on delivery fees?
You can take kids to restaurants too of course (got some steaks with my nine year-old on Thursday) but I do at least get what the logistical issue is there.
And of course you can even leave the house and go eat somewhere alone — something interesting might happen. If not, you can stare at your phone in a new setting!
@mattyglesias We don’t like to leave the house
@mattyglesias If you're alone, eat at the bar. Watch the bartender work -- good ones are a joy to behold. Strike up a conversation w/someone. Learn stuff.
@mattyglesias Back in college and when I find the time now I always enjoyed going to a restaurant by myself and reading. It's relaxing.
@mattyglesias If you go out, you have to put on clothes and shit, though.
@mattyglesias And before anyone makes fun of "stare at your phone in a new setting" just remember what our ancestors did in the before times
@mattyglesias Shit, back in the pre-smartphone days I used to carry around a book.
