If a woman owns her own voice without apology, she is likely to be seen by some as grandiose or arrogant. That is the kind of subtle, internalized misogyny that all of us - women as well as men – need to be aware of.
@marwilliamson Not so subtle, and articulated eloquently by #HillaryClinton in #WhatHappened
@marwilliamson Hit the nail on the head! I was raised in a poor, violent, drunken home, both parents, every day, & by 4 big angry brothers & their judgement. Strong women like you, saved my bacon. I'm proud of myself for who I became.
@marwilliamson @cmclymer Command presence. No respect without it; ridiculed if we have it.
@marwilliamson Agreed, Marianne. And sadly, I see this response far more from women than from men.
@marwilliamson when someone challenges a statement just because I made it, it's time to block...
@marwilliamson It’s worse here in Africa. Insults will be thrown at you.
@marwilliamson AFTER CENTURIES OF OPRESSION-IT IS A MIRACLE WOMEN HAVE SURVIVED-NOT TO MENTION- WINNING STUNNING BATTLES!!! HOW STRONG ARE THEY FOR THEIR MAGNIFICENT ACOMPLISHMENTS! NOW THEY ARE SET TO LEAD!!! THE BATTLE FOR A PARADISE ON EARTH !!!🌎🌍🌏🌞🌞🌞
@marwilliamson Yes, I have been gossiped about as having “blonde ambition” and therefore untrustworthy. Thank you Marianne, and all women replying here, for owning your voice without apology—regardless. It makes it a little easier for each one of us all of the time.
