I just listened to the latest @legiondotcc podcast with the almanak CEO, Neo, and it was an exciting one. Topic: The rise of AI quants. Here are some of the key takeaways. First off, quants mean quantitative analysts. They simply refer to people who use maths and statistics to forecast events in the financial market. - @almanak as a company, doesn't believe in the idea of AI managing assets which has been one of the main selling points of AI in the world of DeFi. Reason? -- AI's unpredictable nature and exploitation risks. - They opted to build a vibe coding platform rather than an AI asset manager because while AI might be unpredicatble, it's still way faster at coding and reasoning than humans. - There are currently 18 agents in the almanak platform. Their goal is to act as your strategists and build out your strategy. Once built, they no longer have access to it and can only suggest improvements. You are the one in full control. - Almanak is building for billion dollar infrastructures. The current state is being built for web3 because it's a permissionless financial market where most data are free which would help train their agents. Future plans involve expansion to web2 markets. - Almanak is directly disrupting the quant market by being 100x faster at coding and a billion times faster at reasoning than any quant as well as still being cheaper with less than $1 required to create a strategy. Just way more efficient. - Good chance we start seeing one man hedge funds with agents managing and creating strategies. - Almanak's expected success is going to be determined by the revenue for both curators and LP as well as the continued growth of AI. - They have a loaded team of defi experts which is a major positive. - Defi and crypto as a whole has gone from trying to replace banks to trying to onboard banks. Interesting take tbh. - They are already hitting over 90% of the KPIs they set for themselves which means the team are on track to being a hit even post TGE. - @NeoAlmanak hates pumpdotfun. haha. - There are currently no direct competitors to the platform. There's still a lot that was said and explained on the podcast so would still encourage people to watch it below
