WotC laying off nearly everyone Larian worked with on BG3 and Larian subsequently deciding not to work any future D&D games has to be an all-time bag fumble.
While Swen doesn’t explicitly say the WotC layoffs influenced Larian not creating additional BG3 or D&D content, I think his acceptance speech at the GDCA just the day prior was pretty telling.

In times of industry upheaval, its crucial for all involved to prioritize not just short-term gains, but the long-term well-being of workers and the sustainability of projects. Balancing corporate decisions with ethical considerations is key for fostering a more just and resilient future.
@maraisbored Imagine Critical Role's Daggerheart takes off, and Larian uses that IP to make a game just to spit in the face of Hasbro and WotC. 😆
@maraisbored If it comes out that a lot of game dev $ is set up to be a loss or a launder, I will be Jack's lack of surprise. At least that's smarter than my other theory: execs making decisions based on reading internet forum posts. "Crazegob737 says he hates it. Sorry guys. Cancel!"
@maraisbored That's what I said too. Oh well, the top execs still get paid so doubt they care
@maraisbored You'd think there would be consequences for Hasbro leadership but CEOs are always able to shirk responsibility for their failures
@maraisbored I mean, Hasbro is the layoff maker if I recall correctly aren't they?
