Tbh, we know the "it's society that's disabling, not disabilities!" take is ment in good faith, but we are begging y'all to please move past that. Society denies us (personally) acessability access, but even in an ideal and accessible society, we'd still be disabled.

A lot of gifted kids still aren't understanding this. This wasn't an invitation to center your own experiences and oppression, but to reflect on how you were put above others at the expense of them and to actually consider their experiences & oppression. That you benefitted from.

No, but I wish more gifted kids would work through this in this way. You're not oppressed because you're smart. You're oppressed bc you're disabled. Being put in a gifted program and labelled smart instead of disabled was society doing its best to you.

@ALEventing This is something I can’t stop thinking about. In HS one year, I ended up with really bad pneumonia. Was misdiagnosed at first, so I continued to go to school AND WORK… despite barely being able to breathe, coughing nonstop, and feeling terrible
